Dave Rosenthal, Part 1

Show Notes

Now going strong into his 28th year as keyboardist and musical director for none other than Billy Joel, Dave Rosenthal is, and will always be, pure musician. There has never been something for Dave to be – to aspire to. He’s a musician that’s it. But of course that kind of focus combined with no small amount of talent has seen him on stage and in the studios with everyone from Paul McCartney, Steve Miller and Peter Frampton to Cindy Lauper, Steve Vai, Itzhak Perlman and Bruce Springsteen. His life in rock and roll is filled with the stories that so many of us musicians envy. Dave is in the full meaning of the phrase: a musician’s musician. Chatting with Dave gave me an opportunity to ask him about a genre of music that will always hold a special place in my own musical heart; progressive rock.
